Principal's Message:

There are only two months of school left and still lots to do.  Attendance is extremely important in having a successful year.  Each day builds on the day before and each year build on the previous year.  Our curriculum is set up as building blocks or stepping stones.  Attendance is a must so as not to miss a block or stone.  Please help ensure your child meets curriculum outcomes by encouraging good attendance.

May is Medic Alert Month. Any child between the ages of 4 and 14, with a severe health condition, is eligible to get a free Medic Alert bracelet. Visit www.nochildwithout.cato see list of possible medical conditions. If you are eligible, forms are available at the office.

 School Accreditation Ceremony:

On Wednesday May 9that 9:30 am there will be a celebration to mark the successful implementation of our school improvement plan. A plaque will be presented by a representative of the Department of Education. It will be a time to thank all of our school partners for helping us meet writing and communication goals that were developed five years ago by the school community.

There is a school based in-service scheduled for May 11, 2012.  There will be no classes for students on that day.

I would like to thank all student teachers who worked at AEC this year.  Their energy and contributions were greatly appreciated.

***REMINDER***

Parents and visitors are asked to use the Main Entrance when entering the school.  Parents/Guardians should not be going down to classrooms during or at the end of the day to pick up their child/ren.  You should meet your child at the cafeteria/main entrance area and, if early, come to the office and sign your child/ren out and we will page them.  This policy is in place for your child’s safety and to create less confusion and disruption.  Thank you in advance for support in this matter.

Also a reminder to parents to remember to call if your child is going to be late or not in on a given day.  Our Safe Arrival Program can only work if there are a few calls to make. If there are a lot of calls to make it defeats the purpose of the program. When there are a large number of calls to make it may take until late morning to complete these calls.

Thank you to all students and parents who donated to our Food Bank Drive.  It was a great success again this year.  Over 25 milk crates, weighing approximately 1000 lbs., of food were donated.

If you are thinking of becoming a volunteer in the school, please stop by and pick up the required paper work.
